The objective of the Carbohydrate Group of the Spanish Royal Society of Chemistry is to promote cooperation between the different Spanish groups working in the field of glycobiology and glycochemistry, one of the research topics of greatest impact on the current chemistry-biology interface, highly interdisciplinary and with a very strong influence in other fields such as biomedicine.
The Group's principal activity is the organization of national scientific meetings, known as "Jornadas de Carbohidratos", and international meetings with our colleagues of the "Grupo da Química dos Glucidos" of Portugal, known as the Iberian Carbohydrate Meetings, which aim to promote cooperation between research groups of both countries and with other foreign groups, especially Europeans.
One of the main objectives of these meetings is to facilitate the participation of younger researchers, through communication and open discussion of the results of their work, contributing to a broad and interdisciplinary training of the new research staff in this field.
